It all began with faint, muffled meows coming from the foundations of a house. Trapped in a dark, inaccessible crawl space, two young ginger and white kittens were struggling to survive without their mother, as reported by LoveMeow.
The mother cat was later found and spayed. It was volunteers from the Catz4life charity in Sandy Springs, Georgia, in the United States, who managed against all odds to bring them to safety.
In the end, four kittens were placed in a foster home. Two of them quickly found their forever families.
That left only Ricky and Reggie, who were particularly terrified.
A brotherly bond like no other
Throughout their rehabilitation, one thing remained constant: the strength of their bond. Ricky and Reggie share absolutely everything, from their naps and grooming sessions to playing with toy mice. If one wanders a little too far, the other calls out to him immediately.
Ready for their forever home
"They have been comforting each other since day one. It's thanks to this brotherly presence that they were able to trust humans so quickly," says their foster carer.
Now fully grown, healthy, and perfectly socialised, the two brothers are waiting for the final step of their journey: finding an adoptive family ready to open their doors and hearts to them, without ever separating them.
