For nearly six weeks, residents of the Bellangerie housing estate in Janzé, western France, were left completely baffled. Out of nowhere, everyday items began to vanish without a trace.
Garden furniture was moved or stolen, bin bags were ripped open, and laundry hung out to dry—especially underwear—began disappearing into thin air. Day after day, the list of missing items grew longer. The mystery quickly became the main talking point in the neighbourhood, with everyone coming up with wild theories about the identity of the prowler.
Setting a trap for the mysterious thief
Determined to put an end to the bizarre crime wave and catch whoever was targeting their washing lines, several neighbours decided to take action. They installed security cameras pointing at the darkest corners of their gardens to catch the thief red-handed.
