The rescue team had received a call about an animal stuck in a tree.
When they set off, they assumed they would be rescuing a cat, as they are regularly called out for this kind of rescue.
A shocking discovery in the branches
However, when they arrived on the scene, they were greeted by a sight that left them absolutely stunned. A Golden Retriever named Bentley was perched on a thick branch, several feet off the ground. Surrounded by dense foliage, the poor dog was completely stuck and unable to get down on his own.
Nobody could explain how the pup had managed to climb up there in the first place, or what had possessed him to venture into such an unlikely spot. To reach Bentley safely, the firefighters set up a large ladder to get to him without taking any risks.
Bringing Bentley back to earth
As the firefighters climbed up, Bentley calmly watched his rescuers throughout the operation. At the crucial moment, he even reached out his paws towards the firefighter who came to collect him, as if he understood he was finally being saved.
In the end, Bentley was safely brought back down. Neither the dog nor the firefighters were injured during this unusual rescue. Relieved, the emergency services shared the story on social media with a touch of humour, noting that while they are well used to cats being stuck in trees, they are much less accustomed to Golden Retrievers! We are absolutely delighted that Bentley is back home with his family, safe and sound.
