On 23 July, rescue staff caught the adventurous dog climbing right up the metal mesh of his kennel door.
Escape from loneliness
The young dog simply did not want to be left alone. So, Bay climbed the fence separating him from the dogs in the neighbouring run. In the footage, he can be seen making a spectacular leap onto the kennel gate, hoisting himself up, and then dropping down to join his canine pal.
Far from trying to escape the shelter altogether, Bay just wanted to make some new friends. After clearing the first fence with surprising ease, he repeated the impressive feat to go and say hello to another dog!
A natural acrobat
Staff quickly realised that this "great escape" was driven by one thing only: a desire to play. The CCTV footage brought a smile to everyone at the shelter, revealing a dog who is as agile as he is friendly.
The two residents he joined welcomed their visitor with curiosity and excitement, and they wasted no time in playing together. Rescuers describe Bay as dynamic, intelligent, and always up for an adventure. He will need a suitable home with his future family, including a very secure garden...
More than just an acrobat, Bay is a dog who thrives on contact and affection. His little adventure showed that he was never looking to run away – he just wanted to bond with his fellow dogs.
