A heartbreaking past and a new beginning
Iago’s story is truly heartbreaking. This little dog wandered the streets alone and blind for a long time before being hit by a car. When he was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic, he was not only injured but also absolutely terrified.
Left to fend for himself, he had no one to turn to. For him, the world was a dark and frightening place, where every single noise felt like a threat. No one knows exactly what he went through, but his body and mind bore the scars of a life filled with distress.
Fortunately, his path crossed with the volunteers from Old Souls Animal Rescue in Arizona, USA. This wonderful charity is dedicated to the most vulnerable animals, including elderly pets, those with special needs, or those nearing the end of their lives.
For Iago, this was much more than just a roof over his head. It was the promise of a second chance—a place where his disability was not a burden, but simply another reason to shower him with endless love.
Finding comfort in new friends
As shown in a touching video shared by the rescue centre on TikTok, Iago’s true healing began when he interacted with the other residents. Wary at first, the little dog gradually began to seek out the company of his fellow rescues.
The footage shows him snuggling up tenderly to one dog, then another, finding the safety he had missed so much in their warmth and calming presence. In this gentle sanctuary, surrounded by other souls who understand his vulnerability, Iago can finally relax and sleep peacefully. He is finally home.
