Kitten on the brink of drowning sparks a major rescue operation

By Elodie Carpentier

All is well that ends well for little River.

In the Vendée region of France, firefighters were called to help a kitten in distress. As reported by Les Sables - Vendée Journal, a local resident raised the alarm after hearing the tiny animal's cries for help.

The rescue team made their way to the Quai du Halage in Fontenay-le-Comte. Once there, they discovered that rescuing the kitten was going to be more complicated than they had anticipated.

A tricky rescue

Two water rescue specialists were called in to "cross the river and retrieve him". Fortunately, the kitten was recovered safe and sound.

He found a forever home

And in more good news, the kitten found a family. The local resident who had heard his cries for help decided to offer him a forever home.

And as a nod to his rescue story, she decided to name him "River".
