But a dog named Ellie has found her own special way to get noticed.
A very sociable dog
Ellie was found as a stray and arrived at the shelter in New York, USA, feeling a little disoriented. But thanks to human contact, she eventually came out of her shell. The rescuers soon realised that Ellie was actually a very sociable dog.
She needs a lot of attention and loves to follow the rescuers everywhere she can. She also has no problem “invading” their personal space, for example by climbing onto their laps at any given moment. For Ellie, the concept of personal space simply doesn't exist, and the rescuers find it hilarious!
A paw under the door
Ellie has developed her very own technique for getting noticed. As soon as she hears someone approaching her kennel, she slides her little white paw out from under the door. It's such an adorable gesture! It just makes you want to hold her little paw and tell her everything will be okay.
The rescuers found the dog's ritual of sticking her little paw out every time someone walks past to be absolutely incredible. They filmed the sweet moment and posted it on social media. For now, Ellie is still waiting for her forever family. We hope someone will soon open their home to her, where she can slide her paw under the door for good!
