The nine-year-old senior dog had just lost her owner, with whom she had lived her entire life. Her owner's relatives brought her to the shelter because they didn't want to look after her.

The shelter's rescuers felt an immediate connection with the dog and promised to find her a forever home. A subsequent health check revealed that she had a mass that needed to be removed. Fortunately, the operation was a complete success.
Chiqui went to a foster home to rest and recover under the care of her loving foster family. The brave dog was grateful to go on walks with her foster mum, Arianne, and her dog, Gator. However, when Chiqui was given the green light to be put up for adoption, things became complicated.
An overlooked senior
Arianne took her to an adoption event. Sadly, on that day, visitors seemed more interested in the puppies than in Chiqui. Everyone walked past her without a second glance, as you can see in the video below. The footage is heartbreaking, as it's clear that Chiqui wants only one thing: to meet her forever family.
Despite the dog's efforts to show how lovely and affectionate she is, Chiqui received no adoption requests. Fortunately, social media worked its magic. Arianne filmed the scene and posted the video on Instagram. 1.7 million people witnessed Chiqui's despair. And among those millions of viewers, a couple asked to adopt the dog!
