Lisa is used to welcoming older pooches into her home.
While some find it very easy to trust, for others, it's not so straightforward.
To trust or not to trust?
Fresh, an adorable 10-year-old Chihuahua, found it very difficult to trust Lisa's husband. The brave little dog would let Lisa approach and cuddle her, but unfortunately, it was a different story with Lisa's husband.
However, Fresh noticed that the other foster dogs in the family had no trouble trusting Lisa's husband. So, gradually, she started to take an interest in him... She slowly approached to sniff him, keeping a watchful eye on him the whole time. Then, she accepted a pat on the back, before realising she could also enjoy a little belly rub!
Completely relaxed
In the end, the little dog just needed time and space to build her confidence on her own terms. The fact that Fresh accepted belly rubs amazed Lisa, as you can hear in the video below, posted on 14th April. She exclaims: "Oh wow! She wants belly rubs!" which is a sign of relaxation and trust from our canine friends.
1.3 million viewers were moved to tears by Lisa's video. One user commented: "Earning the trust of a scared dog is an incredible feeling.".
