The rescue went smoothly, and the dog was finally safe.
However, two days later, Suzette received a call to say another dog was wandering in the very same spot.
A terrified puppy
Suzette rushed straight to the scene. When she spotted the little white and grey dog, she realised it was just a young puppy. The poor animal was terrified of everything. Whenever anyone tried to get close, it would run away. The woman who had called Suzette had already tried to tempt it with food and water, but sadly, nothing had worked.
Suzette had no choice but to return the next morning to try again. When she and her colleague, Mari, attempted to corner the puppy to stop it from escaping, it began to panic. It was so frightened that it ended up wedged in a tight gap between two walls.
A new beginning
This turned out to be the only chance the two rescuers had to catch the puppy. Mari gently placed her sweatshirt over the little dog, scooped it up into her arms, and managed to pull it free. The puppy was trembling with fear, but the rescuers had accomplished their mission: it was finally safe.
Suzette took the puppy, who turned out to be a little girl, to the vet and named her Tweety. The brave pup was then taken in by Suzette's partner rescue, Second Leash On Life, and placed in a foster home. Tweety is now discovering what love feels like in her new home, surrounded by her caring humans and her new cat and dog siblings.
