It's a scene that would break any animal lover's heart. Earlier this year, in the middle of the night, a passer-by discovered a pet carrier abandoned on the cold tarmac of a motel car park. Inside were a mother cat and her kittens. They had been abandoned by their former owners and their survival was left purely to chance.
As reported by The Dodo, the rescue organisation Catz 4 Life immediately stepped in to help. The little family was quickly taken to a veterinary clinic.
A new beginning
The mother, who was named Mackerel, was extremely stressed. However, within a few days, surrounded by kindness and care, she began to let her guard down. She started to accept strokes and affection from her rescuers.
Her kittens, on the other hand, showed surprising curiosity and strength of character. Despite their ordeal, they continued to play and snuggle up to one another, as if the outside world was no longer a threat.
A bright future
Today, the future looks bright for Mackerel and her litter. Thanks to the hard work of the Catz 4 Life volunteers, they are no longer just shadows in a car park. They are now beloved animals on their way to finding their forever homes.
