A man in Austria has been given a six-month suspended sentence for sending his cat through the post.
According to the French newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré, employees at a logistics centre north of Vienna discovered Shana, a British Shorthair.
A cat in poor health
The poor animal, trapped inside the parcel, appeared to be "in poor health".
The frightened cat managed to escape from the box and hid in the warehouse.
The owner's defence
The cat's owner attempted to defend himself in court, explaining that the parcel was supposed to contain a guitar he was returning to Germany.
The defendant argued, "The delivery driver should have felt a cat moving inside," adding that he would "never send his cat through the post."
