The dog is nine years old. Sadly, he recently injured his back leg.
The poor pooch had to rest and keep weight off his paw while waiting for surgery.
A love for the park
This meant Rudder could no longer go for his beloved walks in the park. Instead, he had to stay lying on his cosy blankets in the living room. While this might sound appealing to some couch-potato dogs who love to sleep and lounge around, it was a much harder situation for Rudder to handle.
The pooch absolutely loves walking in the park and sniffing all the new smells. So, to keep her dog from getting frustrated, Maggie decided to do something adorable. Since Rudder couldn't go to the park, she decided to bring the park to him!
A brilliant idea
In the video above, she can be seen collecting items from the park: tree branches, but also more unusual objects like zips, a pair of rusty scissors, and an old tin of cat food. These were all smells that Rudder would have sniffed if he had been able to go. Once Maggie gets home with her unusual "shopping", she presents it all to her dog.
Rudder is absolutely delighted with this special treatment, happily sniffing all the wonderful scents his owner has brought back for him. With this heartwarming video, Maggie hopes to inspire other owners whose dogs might find themselves in a similar situation to Rudder, unable to move while waiting for an operation. We wish Rudder a speedy recovery so he can soon be back to running full-pelt through the parks again!
