Vinicius Orlando, who has maintained the same pool in Goiás for three years, knew something was wrong when Choquito, the homeowners’ dog, failed to greet him as usual.
Approaching the pool, he noticed the cover was wet and immediately feared the worst.
Cleaner leaps into action
Checking beneath the cover, Orlando saw Choquito lying motionless at the bottom. Security footage later showed the dog had slipped into the water and struggled to stay afloat for 40 minutes before sinking.
Without hesitation, Orlando dived in, pulled Choquito out and performed improvised CPR. “He was already unconscious when I found him,” Orlando explained. “I massaged his belly and he began to recover.”
Miraculous recovery
The dog’s owner arrived quickly and rushed him to the vet, where tests confirmed he had survived without lasting harm.
Orlando admitted the timing was critical. Just a minute’s delay could have proved fatal. Thanks to his swift actions, Choquito has now made a full recovery.
“I’m very happy everything worked out,” said Orlando. “It was instinct — I just did what needed to be done.”
