Intermittent soft stools in my dog

Hi everyone,

My dog poos 2 to 3 times a day.

Lately, one of her daily poos starts off well and looks normal, then a few seconds later she goes again and it comes out formed but soft. I'd say in this case it starts as a Royal Canin score 4 then becomes a score 3. For example, yesterday she had normal stools in the morning and evening, but the midday one was score 4 then finished as score 3.

This morning was the same, score 4 then 3 at the end.

Other than that, she is absolutely fine in herself.

Should I be worried?

She's had similar episodes in previous years.

    Hi, If she's already had similar episodes with no other symptoms and her stools remain firm, it doesn't seem too concerning to me. You could perhaps mention it to your vet at your next routine appointment to see what they think. Signs that could be worrying are worms in the stools, if your dog has diarrhoea, or if you notice any other abnormal signs (pain, blood in the stools, unusual lethargy, loss of appetite...).
