My dog isn't drinking enough water

My dog drinks very little water during the day. How can I encourage him to drink more? Should I buy a water fountain or try adding water to his dry food?

    Hi,

A water fountain can encourage some dogs to drink more thanks to the moving water, but they don't all take to them. You could also try adding a bit of warm water to his dry food, or switching to wet food which will help keep him hydrated. Also, make sure to leave several bowls of fresh water out and clean them regularly.

On the other hand, if you feel he's drinking very little, check whether he's urinating normally and if there are any other unusual signs.

If his water intake has dropped suddenly or if he’s showing symptoms like lethargy, vomiting, or urinating less often, it's best to consult a vet.

    Have a good day,

    Maëlla
