Hi everyone,

I have a 4-month-old Labrador puppy and some friends have invited me to spend the weekend with them and their 9-week-old Cocker Spaniel puppy. (A party with 25 people is planned). I'm not sure if putting two puppies together is a good idea? Mine weighs nearly 35lbs (2 and a half stone)... and his teeth are very sharp.

Thanks for your thoughts

    Hi,

The issue isn’t necessarily aggression, but rather their excitement, tiredness, and potential lack of self-control (which is common at this age). A young puppy can quickly get overwhelmed or accidentally hurt themselves during play, especially given the difference in size between your puppy and the little Cocker Spaniel.

In my opinion, it’s still possible, but remember not to leave them unsupervised and make sure to provide each of them with a separate 'quiet area' so they can have a breather if the play gets too intense.

You should also be a bit cautious about the fact that there are 25 people at this party: it can quickly become stressful because, as we know, nobody can resist coming over to play with or stroke a puppy...

    Have a good day,

    Maëlla
