Hi everyone, well my Dalmatian is 15 years old now. She’s become incontinent, so she’s having accidents all over the house; she has kidney problems and has lost quite a lot of weight. Basically, she’s not in good health at all. I’m so sad for her, but she’s still walking a bit, even if it’s with difficulty. She still gets up, eats and drinks, but she doesn't want to go outside anymore! I’d like to know if anyone else is going through the same thing at the moment or has been through it before! I give her as many cuddles as I can and talk to her all the time! Usually, a Dalmatian lives for about 13 years, but she’s still hanging in there; she must feel happy being with me 😊 but it’s so heart-breaking to see her like this! Thanks for reading 👍

    Hello, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through right now. I went through the same thing with my 15-year-old Yorkie and I know how hard it is to see your pet struggling. To deal with the incontinence, we put down puppy pads around the house so he could use them (especially on the carpets—he absolutely loved peeing on those). We also made sure he went out a little bit every day (3-4 walks of 5 minutes max) so he could do his business outside and keep moving a little. We took advantage of the moments when he seemed to be feeling better to take him out for a bit longer. It might be trickier with a Dalmatian, but we used to carry him up the stairs, onto the sofa, etc., to save his energy. We tried to give him all the love and comfort he needed. We spoiled him as much as we could and did everything possible to make the most of our final moments together. Your girl is so lucky to have you. 15 is an amazing age for a dog, especially for one that size. There’s no doubt that she’s had (and is still having) a wonderful life full of love by your side.
