Personally, I prefer treating my dogs with essential oils, carrier oils, or floral waters. I’ve kitted myself out (table, medical and dental tools, lab equipment) so I can be self-sufficient.
For example (I select my own plants based on my needs and the research I’ve done):
Treating Malassezia yeast: essential oils
Paw pad treatment: aloe gel + essential oils
Cleaning eyes: floral water
Cleaning ears: floral water
Washing: soap + essential oils
Ticks: carrier oil + topical essential oils
Sudden fever / loss of appetite: floral water + water + lemon juice and honey. It gives them a real boost within 24 hours.
I do the grooming myself and adapt it based on what I find.
Our vet is a phytotherapist, and I travel about 300 miles to see him. Generally, traditional vets are quite disappointing when it comes to listening and their fees. Just being transparent! 😇
