Hi everyone, we adopted a little three-and-a-half-month-old Cesky Fousek the day before yesterday. We live in a house with about 7.5 acres of unfenced land. On top of that, we’re in an area with quite a lot of wildlife (wild boar, red deer, and roe deer). We take her for walks very regularly but only ever on a lead, as we're far too scared she might bolt. We’ve got plans for a fence—an electric one, because around here even the wild boar tear holes through wire fencing. We’d love some advice on her training, especially on how to get her to stay with us while we’re working outside. Thanks in advance for your help!

    At her age, you’re right to stay cautious. Keep walking her on a lead or a long line while you work on her recall gradually and positively, especially in an environment with so many distractions. Once the fencing is up and her recall is reliable, she’ll be able to have more freedom. If you need to, don’t hesitate to get help from a dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement methods; it can be really useful to make sure you’re getting off to a good start.
