I applied an "Advocate 80mg + 8mg spot-on for large cats (approx. 9-18 lbs)" on my 13 lb black cat. I was sure I was right in the middle of his neck, but he moved just as I started parting his fur and applying the liquid. As a result, the product ended up more on his shoulder blade, which is an area he can reach to lick.
I immediately grabbed a wet flannel and some water to try and remove as much of it as possible without spreading it all over his coat. My cat licked the spot once and started drooling instantly; since then, I've been keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't lick it again. It’s been 4 hours since it was applied and it's not totally dry yet (it still looks quite oily). My cat has tried to lick the area a few more times, and each time he drools a bit, but it stops very quickly. He’s playing, sleeping, eating, and drinking as normal.
Is this anything serious?? I’m trying to stop him from licking as much as possible, but he often does it the second I turn my head... I don’t think he’s swallowed a large amount of the product; I think he just got a "taste" of it from his fur.
