Right, so I'm about to adopt a puppy but I hadn't noticed this detail on his tail. Is it normal? He’s the only one in the litter with it; will it sort itself out as he grows up?Why does the tip of my dog's tail look like this?

    Hi,

It’s hard to tell from the photo whether it’s just the camera catching him while he was wagging his tail or if that’s its actual shape.

Some puppies naturally have shorter tails, but it could also be down to a fracture or a congenital issue.

I think your best bet is to ask the breeder how long it's been like that and if he’s already been checked over by a vet.

If the puppy isn’t in any pain and is acting normally, it might just be the way he’s built or perhaps an old minor injury.

However, it’s unlikely that the shape of his tail will change as he grows up.

    Have a nice day,

    Maëlla
