Yes, I missed my annual post to celebrate Yuna's birthday back in June, but don't worry, she's still here and she turned 13 this year.
Every year, I tell myself how lucky I am. I think back to that little kitten I practically saw being born at home in a sock drawer—that’s where her mum (Nutella) decided to give birth.
She’s certainly put me through the wringer; she’s made me laugh, she’s made me cry. When she was two and a half, she got really ill—a severe case of cat flu. She couldn't breathe, she wouldn't eat, her eyes were covered in a sticky film, and the vet had hinted that despite the treatment, her chances of survival were very slim. Yet, she’s still here. We fought—she fought first and foremost, of course, but I didn’t give up either, and together we defied the odds. And today she’s still here, still sleeping on my tummy (which is annoying because I can't turn over!), still digging her claws into my shoulders, which hurts! She’s still a bit cranky, my little 'Little Miss Grumpy', but I absolutely adore her! 🥰
Anyway, 13 years... I know cats can live up to 18, but 13 already feels incredible to me. Aside from my parents, she’s the living being I’ve shared the longest part of my life with. I know things don't last forever and that one day... but for now, I'm making the most of it!
