Can I use tick spot-on treatments if they're past their expiry date?

Hi there, I've just found a load of Frontline tick spot-on pipettes for cats in a box. The trouble is, they expired back in September 2019. Can I still use them? Cheers.

I’ve read on a few different sites that spot-on pipettes can last for up to 3 years past their expiry date, provided they’re still in the original foil packaging.

I didn’t check the expiry date and it expired back in May 2023. I put it on my cat about 5 hours ago, and now she’s drooling a bit—not a lot, but a tiny bit—from her mouth. I don’t know if she’s picked something else up or if it was the spot-on treatment 😭😭

Expired flea and tick treatments can cause skin inflammation, allergies, and dermatitis. Plus, if your pet ends up licking the area, they could have stomach and intestinal issues.

I’d recommend binning them and buying some new ones; it’ll work out much cheaper in the long run than a trip to the vet for all the problems they can cause.
