The short answer is absolutely not — they’re totally different conditions!
A lot of pet parents think a CKD diagnosis means kidney failure, but that’s such a common mistake. CKD develops slowly, and you can absolutely manage it long-term. Kidney failure only happens when early kidney issues go untreated and progress to the final, severe stage.
I’ve got a real-life example to prove it! A 7-year-old Giant Schnauzer had elevated SDMA (early kidney changes). With consistent early care and a proper routine, this pup stayed healthy and lived over 3 more great years.
