Fostering

Question

Hi!

My gf and I have a dog but we're thinking about getting a cat too. The thing is, we're not sure we're fit to be cat parents and especially not sure that our dog would be happy having a cat sibling! We were thinking about fostering because it could be a chance for us to test it out without actually having to commit to it long term. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Good idea/bad idea? Has anyone fostered for the same reasons before?

In essence I think this is a good idea, but I'm not sure any shelter would be willing to let you take in a rescue cat or kitten when you have a dog that you're not sure about at home. Shelters can be very picky about that. But, you could always try!
