Has anyone successfully helped their cat lose weight?

My girl has become a bit chunky after being spayed. It’s nothing extreme but I know her quality of life would be better if she were slimmer. pls recommend the best way to help her lose weight, how much to feed her, and the best cat food that is most suitable for weight loss?

I went through the same thing after my cat was spayed. She didn’t get huge, just a bit rounder than before. What helped most was feeding less rather than switching loads of things at once.

I stopped free-feeding and started measuring her food properly. I was surprised how easy it is to overfeed without realising. I split her daily amount into two meals and cut back on treats. Food-wise, weight-control or neutered-cat food worked well for us, and I found adding more wet food helped because it fills them up without loads of calories. I didn’t starve her or rush it, just slow and steady.

Also, a bit more play each day made a difference. Even 10 minutes with a wand toy adds up.

It took time, but she gradually slimmed down and seems much more comfortable now.
