Which type of brush should I choose?

Hi everyone, I've had a question on my mind for a while now and, given all the different advice out there, I'm feeling a bit lost.

Most of us are well aware of the struggle with cat hair. I've noticed several adverts for those steamy brushes that look really handy. I found one, I'll leave the link here, but I'm still in two minds about it.

Does anyone have any feedback to share? I'm tempted to give it a go but a bit nervous about taking the plunge.

Thanks a lot!

Lucie

What sort of problems are you talking about when you say "cat hair issues"? Do you mean getting hair all over your clothes, the sofa, or other areas shared by both humans and cats?? If that’s the case and it’s really a nuisance, just get a lint roller or one of those standard tools to get it off yourself, but don’t you dare brush your cat with it!! If it’s because they’re struggling to digest the fur, then just use a proper grooming brush. Honestly, they’ll come up with anything these days...

I think sticking with standard brushes is more than enough, especially for a short-haired cat. To be honest, in my opinion, it’s not good for the cat’s skin.

They really don’t know what they’ll think of next! I’d honestly just recommend a slicker brush, which is the best thing for a short-haired cat; just do it every day. You’ve also got those grooming mitts which are great because they give them a massage at the same time, and usually cats absolutely love them. But honestly, steam!!!! Why not a steam vacuum while we’re at it! Especially with the risk of burning the cat on top of everything else.

    Hi there,

These types of brushes dampen the cat's fur, making it much easier to pick up the loose hair. I suppose they might be "more" effective, but "standard" brushes can be just as good; the most important thing is to do it regularly.

Also, if there is excessive hair loss leading to bald patches, you should definitely take your cat to see a vet.

    Kind regards,

    Manon
