Hello,
The toxic dose depends on the dog's weight. For instance, the lethal dose for a dog weighing around 22 lbs (approx. 1 stone 8 lbs) is 60g of dark chocolate.
If your dog is a large breed, there shouldn't be any serious consequences, especially as Kinder-style treats are often quite low in cocoa, as @Kikaah mentioned.
Regarding the foil wrapper, as your vet told you, this shouldn't normally be an issue.
However, it is best to stay vigilant over the next few hours for any signs of poisoning or a bowel blockage.
For your information, symptoms of chocolate poisoning often appear 4 to 5 hours after ingestion: diarrhoea, hyperactivity, tremors, or seizures.
Signs of an intestinal blockage include vomiting and abdominal pain.
Have a good evening,
Agathe
Thanks for your reply. I’ve just called the vet and apparently, for a big dog, there's no risk of a blockage – it'll just come out in his poo.
