My dog has just been spayed. Since she got home, she hasn’t really been to the toilet (she's had a little wee, but nothing else at all...).
She’s absolutely wiped out; she’s normally so bouncy and she’s only six months old!
Is this normal??
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Cheers.

Hi everyone,
I have a 6-month-old Jack Russell pup who was spayed three days ago – she had both her ovaries removed.
On the first day, she wouldn't eat anything, though she did drink a little. Since yesterday, she's started eating a tiny bit again, but she’s been drinking an awful lot, even during the night, so she’s been having accidents all over the house. We haven’t said anything to her as she’s clearly not herself at the moment.
This morning, on the third day, she woke us up at 5am asking for water. She drank a massive amount compared to her usual habits and she still seems thirsty.
I'm not sure what to do to get her to drink less. Is this normal after an op?
Thanks for any advice you can give.
Speak soon.
Yeah, but that’s normal. The anaesthesia affects their digestive system and it takes a little while for everything to get back to normal, which shouldn't be long now. There’s no need to worry.
Morphe, was the surgery today? It’s completely normal that she hasn’t done a poo if she hasn't eaten anything, especially as she was fasting for the operation.
Yeah, it’s completely normal. Mine is getting spayed tomorrow and the vet let me know in advance because I’d asked her about it. It’s also normal if they’re a bit groggy for the first 2 or 3 days – even with their food, they might not eat much at first, but they’ll pick up again bit by bit.
Yes, it does feel strange seeing her like this, but what worries me most is the fact that she hasn't done a poo!!! And the vet didn't say a word about it!!
Thank you for your replies, it's really put our minds at rest.
Yeah, she’s a bit spaced out because of the anaesthetic. I remember once I left my dog alone for five minutes on the sofa and I came back to find her perched on the armrest, just staring into space as if she was totally out of it!
