My dog swallowed the head of a plastic toy

Evening.

I've got a bit of a problem. My dog chewed and then swallowed the head of a toy (a plastic tiger) two days ago. I've been checking his poo to see if he'd pass it, but nothing!

He's still pooing normally, has a good appetite and is very playful. However, this evening he threw up some bits of the toy. What should I do? I'm planning to call the vet tomorrow, but in the meantime, I wanted to know if the fact he's vomited the plastic is a good sign, or should I call an out-of-hours vet right away?

I'm so worried I'm struggling to sleep.

Thanks.

Same here! Mine’s just swallowed a plastic bone! I’m stopping all food until he passes it, otherwise it could cause a blockage and his bowel might rupture! I’m in a total panic :( I’m going to go and buy some laxatives to help him pass it and make it less painful for him! No more toys, that’s it. He was right next to me and swallowed it in two seconds... I’ve already lost one dog because of this, I’m not losing another! Not this time!

Hi! I’m having the exact same issue with one of my cats; she’s eaten that little bit of string from the end of a salami. She’s been retching but hasn't actually brought anything up... and there’s nothing in her poo yet either. I called my vet today and they told me not to worry as long as she isn't sick again, and to just wait and see if it shows up in her poo. Personally, I think I’ll give them another ring tomorrow if I still haven’t found anything in her litter tray. Anyway, make sure your dog is eating well and especially that he’s drinking plenty! I’ve been giving mine some wet food to help with her food intake and her hydration at the same time. I hope your little one will be okay.
