Deep brain tumour

Hi everyone,

I'm writing this feeling completely hopeless. Today we found out that Maya, our 4-year-old Australian Shepherd, has a deep-seated brain tumour that is bleeding, and she only has a few weeks left to live. She's starting palliative treatment to help make her more comfortable for the time she has left. Has anyone else been through this, and how did you manage it? We have three children at home and we want to protect them as much as our dog. We don't want to wait too long, but we want to make the most of every moment. Thank you.

Hello, I’m so incredibly sorry for what you and your Maya are going through. All I can suggest is to make the most of every moment she has left, spend as much time as possible with her, and do everything you can to make her final days as good as they can be. I recently lost my dog; he went downhill in just a month, and we didn't see it coming. Making the most of the time we had left and giving him as much joy as possible is something I truly wish I’d been able to do before he left us. If you feel up to it, there are some really easy kits you can get to take a paw print of your sweetheart. It’s a lovely way to have a keepsake that’s a bit different from photos. I’m sending you all my support and wish you so much strength during this difficult time. Laura
