You probably didn't buy your pet from a proper breeder, because you would have seen both parents if you had. Being able to see the parents (or at least knowing who they are if they don't belong to the breeder and were just used for a stud service) is the first thing that tells you whether a breeder is reputable or not.
Give The Kennel Club a ring and you'll find out soon enough... but I reckon that KC registration number was a fake.
He really doesn't look like a Staffie. Is it an AmStaff or a Staffie? Judging by his muzzle, he looks like an AmStaff cross Lab.
