My dog hasn't eaten for 24 hours and her tummy is rumbling

Good evening,

I'd like some advice or to hear about similar experiences regarding something that's worrying me about my dog.

She hasn't eaten anything for 24 hours now; she won't even touch her favourite dog treats (which she usually goes mad for). She doesn't seem tired or anything - she's playing and sleeping as normal - but she just hasn't eaten. (I usually have her on two meals a day, she's used to her dry food and I feed her at the same times every day.)

What's worrying me most are the noises coming from her tummy; not five seconds go by without it rumbling quite loudly!

She's only done a tiny poo... usually she doesn't have any issues with constipation and her stools are fine!

I just don't understand this sudden change, I haven't changed her diet at all...

The only thing is that yesterday I took her to a dog park where she played with lots of other dogs, and a lady gave her a treat that I suspect contained grains (which aren't good for them). I'm wondering if she's picked something up, like a bug, or if it's a stomach upset or constipation...

She's my first dog, so I'm probably worrying over nothing, but it's so sudden that I find it really strange...

Since I only got her three months ago from a rescue centre, I don't know much about her background :/

Same as Soucaille and Mariegame – you should see a vet.

This is nothing to do with a grain treat. Get to the vet as soon as possible, because if she’s swallowed a sock or something like that, it could be life-threatening.

    Grains don't have that effect.

    Get to an emergency vet.

Hi there, A quick call to the vet just to put your mind at ease might be a good idea. With such a sudden change, it’s best not to wait around. That said, it depends on the size of the treat. If she’s let him eat half the packet, I’d imagine the grains could be enough to upset his tummy; if it was just one little bit of dry food, I highly doubt that’s the cause.
