Hi everyone!

I have a quick question about Golden Retrievers:

Are there such things as miniature Golden Retrievers?

I can post some photos of them alongside the standard size:

Is there such a thing as a miniature Golden Retriever???

Anyway, that's all I wanted to know.

Thanks for your help!

😌

A Mini Golden Retriever is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Cocker Spaniel, or a Golden and a Poodle.

This results in a smaller dog that looks just like a Golden Retriever.

They're also known as Comfort Retrievers.

I’ve had a Golden Retriever for 10 years now. He never really grew that big; he’s stayed medium-sized with a completely brown coat. Every vet I’ve seen tells me he’s a purebred—his mum and dad are both Goldens and they’re large, but he’s stayed medium-sized. He’s incredibly intelligent; when he wants to go out, he shows me his lead. When he’s hungry, he stands in front of the fridge and won’t budge. If it’s raining, he refuses to go out; he puts his paws over his eyes or ears as if he doesn't want to hear a thing about it! Every evening when he wants to go to bed, he pulls the throws off the sofa and drags them to the bedroom, and if I don’t follow quickly enough, he barks. Personally, I find this breed truly amazing. I never even taught him how to do any of that, even though I’ve had him since the day he was born. I just love my little Bakou. Christophe

I reckon miniatures are just puppies... but then again, each to their own size ^^

I really don't think so... Otherwise he can't be a pedigree, he must be a crossbreed... Or he's just a young dog... I agree.

I hadn't noticed in the first photo that the little one had white spots 🤷

I agree about the first photo but not at all about the ones after that.

Hendrix is a pedigree and has a similar muzzle

He’s a crossbreed. It’s especially obvious in the first photo: Goldens don't have white on their chests or toes. In the photos, the smaller one certainly looks younger, but his head is still too narrow for him to be a pedigree.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought, there shouldn't be any white. I reckon he’s got a bit of a Labrador head... and he’s still just a puppy.

You can clearly see in the photos that he hasn't got his adult coat yet and his chest hasn't fully filled out.

And when they're puppies, you often get the impression their ears are far too big xD

Plus, you can tell by their faces; having had my two Goldens as puppies, it's easy to recognise a Golden under a year old, even if they've already reached their adult height.

Looking at the size of those ones, they must be about 5 or 6 months old—and even then, Hendrix was already bigger at 6 months.
