Does my dog have worms?

Hi everyone,

Since yesterday, I've noticed some white spots in my dog's poo. I last wormed her two months ago; I usually do it every three months, but to be on the safe side, I'm going to treat her tomorrow.

Do you think these could be "dead" worms? Has anyone else dealt with this before?

My mum's godmother had them a really long time ago—65 years back—and she nearly died.

My dog isn't ill and she isn't scratching, but this is what it might be: *Echinococcus* is a worm that's passed on to dogs when they eat infected animals. The dog then sheds the eggs in their poo but doesn't actually get sick. However, if a human accidentally ingests them, this parasite causes a serious illness that can be fatal.

Thanks everyone, yeah, I hadn't thought of worm eggs; that must be it since they aren't moving, yuck! I use Milbemax which I get from the vet. I'm going to worm her first because as it's been two months already, it might not have been effective, and I'll see if that works. But if it doesn't work with Milbemax, I'll follow your advice Natchris. Either way, when I go to buy the wormer, I'll mention it to my vet.

It’s best to head to the vet, as there are several different types of worms!!! The wormer you used might not cover every variety!!! Take a poo sample in a sterile container for your vet to analyse...

    Good luck :)

Do you get your wormer from your vet? The ones sold at the chemist aren't very good quality.

    What's it called?
