How to choose between a boy or a girl?

Yeah, I agree, I’d let the puppy and its future family meet to see how they get on.
Normally, if there’s a litter, the dog chooses you: one of them should show more of an interest in you than the others. The best thing, if you can, since we’re talking about picking a life-long companion, is to go with that natural chemistry.
When we went to get our Pyrenean Shepherd, we sat down with the available pups, and one of them just started following my friend around (while the others were busy doing their own thing) and he hasn’t left his side since 😉
I’m with the others on this. Since you don't have a preference (and you don't need to have one), the best thing is to go and meet the litter and see which one you click with!
And if the breeder is good, she’ll be able to spot the puppies' emerging personalities and guide you towards a character that suits you, regardless of gender; the calmest one, the most playful, the shy one... and so on (boy or girl!).
Personally, I’ve always preferred females, and I only ended up with a male by chance. Now, I couldn’t be without him! I love my little rascals, of course, but my big lad is just such a joy.
Yeah, for me it’s all about that instant connection when you’re with the puppies. You can’t really say a female is like this and a male is like that... it all comes down to the individual...
Evening,
Choosing between a boy and a girl is always a bit of a tricky one, especially with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, as both have such similar temperaments: they’re affectionate, gentle, and settle into a new home really quickly!
The main differences tend to be physical – with females being a bit smaller – and in terms of personality, where the males can be slightly more active and playful.
Of course, it really depends on the individual dog, so you can always just go with your gut when you meet them; that usually works out for the best!
Have a lovely evening,
Clara
