Buster is looking for a very special adult only home who has lots of experience with dogs with behavioural issues and also someone who is familiar with the Patterdale breed. Buster originally came to us as a stray so we have no previous history on him but we suspect he was tied up and left due to the marks present on his neck when he first arrived at the centre. Sadly Buster has been returned to us several times over the last 4 years which really is a terrible shame as he has so much love and loyalty to give to the right person who is prepared to give him lots of time and help to settle.
What we know about Buster - he is sometimes frightened of being outside and can become very agitated on a walk, often lunging at other dogs and people. All of this is fear based - he is just so overwhelmed and frightened by the big outside that he can't cope with too much coming at him at once so it is for this reason that he will either need a large garden to exercise in or someone who has a secure piece of land where he can safely explore and anyone who adopts Buster must accept that he may never be comfortable going for a walk. Buster is also very frightened of loud noises and will become agitated and constantly circle if he can't get to his 'safe zone' (in this case his kennel), sometimes he can be distracted with a squeaky toy or treat (both of which he loves!) but other times he can't calm down until he is removed from the situation entirely.
Lastly, Buster loves his human so much that he cannot tolerate sharing them so will need a home which doesn't have any visitors or has somewhere safe and secure and separate for him to go for a short while if visitors come into the home. Anyone interested in adopting Buster must be prepared to visit the centre a few times a week for 1-2 months to establish a relationship with him before he will be ready to go home and he will be better suited as the only pet in the home as he doesn't like to share his toys.
Buster will make an amazing companion and friend for the right person - he is a cheeky, funny, energetic boy who loves to play (especially with squeaky balls or a paddling pool!) and have lots of cuddles with his human - if you feel you could offer a forever loving home for this boy please contact us. He is currently at Last Chance New Romney centre.
