My cat ate some Nutella.

I was making myself a Nutella milkshake when my cat came over and had a lick.

I've heard that the lethal dose of chocolate for a cat is about 33 lbs (15kg).

I don't think it's anything serious, but I just want to make sure.

Hi there, Your cat surely didn't eat the whole pot; if he had a spoonful, it's just because he liked it. You shouldn't leave the tub within his reach, though. Mine always beg for some whenever I'm having a yoghurt or an ice cream and they'll have a little lick, but I'd never leave the whole yoghurt pot, a scoop of ice cream, or an ice lolly out for them.

    Hi,

Since he only ate a tiny bit, it’s not a huge deal; he might just have a bit of vomiting or diarrhoea.

Keep an eye on him and let us know more so we can help you out. This is advice from a vet, as the same thing happened to my cat...

    Nutella is mostly oil!

I don't think oil is very good for them because it’s so fatty...

But as it was only a small amount, I don’t think it’s too much of a worry.

Hi, I’ve no idea how much chocolate it takes to be dangerous. But Nutella doesn't have much chocolate in it (is there even any in there?) – it’s mostly hazelnuts and sugar, isn't it? Do you know how much he managed to eat? If it’s just a tiny bit, worst-case scenario he might be sick or have a bit of diarrhoea, but it’ll probably do nothing at all. :) I don’t think there’s any risk. Well, unless he’s been tucking into it all day, obviously.
