How to trim a Maine Coon's bum fur

Hi everyone, I’d like some advice please. It’s a bit of a delicate subject but basically, I’m having a bit of a hairy problem with my fur baby. When he goes to the litter tray, he gets a bit of poo stuck to his fur. I tried to clean it off yesterday because he’s usually fine with water, but he really didn't like it. So then I tried to trim the fur around his bum, but he wasn't having any of it—he even growled, even though he's usually the sweetest thing. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if you have any tips or tricks for trimming his fur? Grrr, he's so gorgeous, I don't want him stinking the place out lol!

Thanks!

Spot on, it’s really tough on your own, especially since our fur babies hate us poking around their private parts. I've found a solution because Félia turns into a right little monster during grooming sessions; I do the basics every week and then take her to my vet every 3 months or so for a full brush-out with the vet nurse. I always ask them to trim the long hair around her bum and breeches while they're at it. They use clippers, which is spot on and much neater than using scissors, and it stays looking nice and even (well, she often walks around with her tail up, so her little behind has to look presentable! Lol). It lasts a good while, too. If your vet is nearby, I’d definitely recommend this—it’s a bit of free help.

Yes, I’ve had that happen before with my Maine Coon when he was younger... What dry food are you giving him?? My husband used to help me by holding Flemming while I used some sharp scissors to cut the fur... it’s quite tricky to do by yourself.....
