Name for a rescue kitten

Hi everyone,

So, I'm about to take in a little kitten that was rescued over the summer, but the person who found him has already asked me to pick a name.

He was part of a litter found in a hay rack, having had a very narrow escape (the mum had left them there, and they were seconds away from being trampled by cows or starving to death).

I'm looking for a name, ideally something foreign-sounding, that would suit him.

I came across 'Tchoda', for instance, which means 'miracle' in Hungarian, but I'm not 100% convinced, so I'm looking for other ideas if there are any bilingual folks on here x)

Thanks!

Milagro (with the accent)... and that says it all!

    I’ll give it a go!

Given the kitten’s story, I personally think Ratatouille would be a great name!

Okay, so it doesn't sound especially exotic, but since he was found in a hay rack and nearly ended up getting squashed, I think it really tells his story—plus it’s quite a unique name! ✌

Or Reiki if you want a zen cat

I’d actually thought of that haha, I did some research for a project on Reiki once!

Hi there, I’ve got some name ideas if you like: Daiki – it’s Japanese and means 'great hope'; Akemi – that’s Japanese too and it means 'bright beauty' or 'lovely twilight'; and lastly, you could call them Scamp, though I’m not sure if that one has a particular meaning 🙂 Anyway, have a lovely day!

    Thanks! I really like Daiki.

I’m not sure why, but I see Akemi more as a name for a girl :)

If cats really do live up to their names, I’d much rather take my chances with Sputnik than Rasputin 😂

Haha, I was also looking for names starting with R and I’d thought about Reykjavik too because I fell in love with Iceland, but I agree, I think it’s a bit of a mouthful for a cat 😂

I’ve given up on the R idea, even though I really liked Romy for a girl, but mine’s going to be a little lad.

Otherwise, for place names, I found Peru for a boy, and I’d also thought about Budapest (as I was supposed to go there this summer, but cheers for that, Covid!) or Haifoss (my favourite waterfall in Iceland, but then again, it is Icelandic!)

Yeah, I thought it was a really cute name too, which is why I suggested it actually. So glad you like it! 👌

I knew a lovely boy called Okami once, I think that name is just irresistible ♥
