Hello, my cat has been acting strangely since yesterday. Today he was chasing me for food but he can't seem to swallow anything, he's absolutely starving...

I've had a look in his mouth and he's dribbling a little, and as you can see in the photo, there's a large, suspicious-looking black mark that wasn't there before. When he breathes, he's making little noises he didn't make before, like an 'asthma attack'.

I'm quite worried and I'm hoping for a quick reply... thanks in advance.

My cat has exactly these symptoms. What was the vet's verdict for your cat?

Hi, my cat’s been acting strangely since yesterday. Today he was chasing after me to be fed, but he can’t manage to swallow anything; he’s starving... I’ve had a look in his mouth and he’s drooling a bit, and as you can see in the photo, he’s got a big, suspicious-looking black spot that wasn’t there before... When he breathes, he’s making little noises he didn't used to make, like an "asthma attack". I’m really worried and hoping for a quick reply... thanks in advance

No one can give you an answer, let alone treat your cat, based on a photo posted on a forum. If you’re worried about your cat, book an appointment with your vet as soon as possible. They are the only ones who will be able to tell you what’s going on and provide the right treatment. From the photo, it just looks like pigmentation on the mucous membrane to me. But if you’re sure it wasn’t there before, then it’s definitely not that!

It looks like necrosis, but I’m no expert. You’ll need to take them to the vet.

Hi, I agree. Get him to the vet as soon as possible. If he isn't eating, you shouldn't wait, but if his breathing isn't normal on top of that, you really mustn't wait.

A trip to the vet is a must, and as soon as possible.
