Hi everyone,

I'm looking to adopt a kitten from the RSPCA and another kitten. How much would they cost me per month? Does anyone have a rough idea? (I'm thinking about food and litter, excluding toys, cat trees, etc.)

Thanks

Hi there, For two kittens, you should expect to spend between £40 and £85 a month on average for everyday expenses. This includes: * Food: around £30–£60 a month for both, depending on the type and quality of the food. * Cat litter and its maintenance: roughly £12–£25 a month, depending on the type used and how much they go through. On top of that, you need to factor in vet bills, which are particularly high in the first year: microchipping, vaccinations, neutering, and worming and flea treatments. It’s also wise to set aside a small amount each month into a savings pot for any unexpected medical care. If the kittens are adopted from a rescue centre or the RSPCA, find out which treatments have already been done or are included in the adoption fee (microchipping, vaccinations, neutering, etc.). The budget can vary quite a bit depending on the kittens' needs and the food you choose, but it’s important not to underestimate vet costs, which are often the most unpredictable expense. Best of luck, Inès
