Moving the cat's litter tray into the bathroom

Hi everyone,

I've got a kitten who's six months old now and I'm really struggling to get rid of the smell from her litter tray. Even though I change it several times a day, nothing seems to work.

I'm thinking about moving it into the bathroom; do you think that's a good idea? I'd leave the door slightly ajar so she can get to it whenever she needs.

I haven't seen any advice against it, but I thought I'd ask here just in case.

Is this a good way to go?

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I saw a video by Absolument Chat where they recommend placing litter trays in a walkway or a high-traffic area, rather than in an isolated room. It’s a bit theoretical and isn't always practical, but listening to them, it seems to be quite a strategic move—perhaps for owners whose cats have started avoiding their litter tray. The idea is that the cat has clear escape routes if they’re disturbed, which is supposed to make them feel more at ease. Personally, I don’t follow this advice and mine go outside now anyway, unless the weather's rubbish, but if your cat isn't happy with their setup, at least you might know why now.

    Evening,

The downside of the loo is that you generally can't open a window to air it out.

Whatever you do, definitely avoid aerosol air fresheners; they're really harmful to cats (and often to humans too).
