Trapped paw

Hello,

My little two-and-a-half-month-old kitten got her paw caught in a door. (My dad opened a door, she put her paw in the way and he didn't see her). She screamed like I've never heard before... it was quite distressing.

She immediately ran off to hide behind the TV stand.

She came out after about 2 minutes. She's eaten. She is limping a little bit but not much; she can manage the stairs despite her tiny size and her sore paw, and she's climbed onto my bed. Just now, for about a minute, she was making little whimpering noises at times but it doesn't last long (she doesn't know how to meow yet). Do you think it's essential to go to the vet? Has this ever happened to you? Do you think it's serious?

Especially when Luna was a kitten, and because she was always getting under our feet, it happened a few times, unfortunately. They usually let out a yelp at the time, which is normal—it’s as much about the shock as it is the pain. In my experience, even if she hid away out of fear afterwards, she wasn't limping and was back to her usual self straight away. If you notice this morning that she’s limping or if she cries out when you try to touch her paw, take her to the vet. Especially considering her age, she’s much more fragile than an adult cat. Keep us posted.

If she isn't limping tomorrow, it isn't swollen, and she isn't in pain when you touch her leg, she'll be fine. It doesn't look too serious if she's putting weight on her paw. Even if the worst comes to the worst and it is broken, that can be treated. So if she's no better tomorrow, you'll need to see the vet.

I forgot to mention, you can really tell her paw is hurting her just by the look on her face.
