Senior cat and a brown spot on a green/yellow eye

Hi everyone,

I have a senior cat who is about 16 or 17 years old (I adopted her as an adult so I'm not entirely sure of her age, but she was likely born in 2005 or 2006).

I've noticed she has a small brown spot on her eye, which is normally green/yellow. She has odd-coloured eyes; her other eye is completely brown.

What do you think it could be? Do I need to take her to the vet or not?

Thanks.

Hi and thanks for the update! Too often, people post asking for advice but don’t bother coming back to let the forum know how things went once they’ve seen the vet. It’s so useful for others looking for answers to a similar problem, and it can be quite frustrating for those who tried to help. Anyway, it’s a relief it’s nothing serious – wishing you many more happy years with your lovely girl. Thank you, yes, I hope so too. She’s still in great shape; she’s eating and drinking well at the moment. 😊

Your little girl reminds me so much of my Perla, who passed away 4 months ago...

She was a beautiful girl as well.

Hi, and thanks for giving us an update. All too often, people ask for advice and then don't bother coming back to tell the forum what happened once they've seen the vet. It’s really helpful for anyone searching the site for similar problems, and it’s frustrating for those who tried to help when they don't hear how things turned out. Anyway, it's a relief that it’s nothing serious, and I wish you many more years with your gorgeous girl!

Hi there, she's absolutely stunning! That looks very much like an age spot. My kitty had those too... and when the first one appeared I was asking myself the same questions as you! Over the years, more spots showed up... But if you're in any doubt, do have a word with your vet.

Thanks, I can confirm it is indeed an age spot, now that I've heard back from the vet.

    She really is gorgeous:

Hello, she’s gorgeous. And plenty of moggies are way more beautiful than pedigree cats. Anyway, well done and thank you for adopting a senior cat. I hope it’s nothing serious.
Thank you! 😊 Yes, she’s lovely. Her name is Minette. Other than that, even if she doesn’t walk very fast and looks a bit wonky when she moves, she still runs and jumps around quite a bit; she seems in great shape for her age. She’s an absolute sweetheart and lets everyone stroke her; she never scratches and isn't timid or skittish at all. My lovely Minette. 😻

It looks like the 'slit' of the eye with the spot is smaller. It would be worth seeing a vet just to put your mind at ease (or not🤔...).
Yes, I think so too. I thought his brown eye (the left one) looked smaller at the top, but it’s probably just his fur hanging down giving that impression. The slit of his green eye (it looks yellow sometimes) does seem smaller, you’re right. As for the eye with the spot (the right one), it looks like there are several other tiny brown spots, but they aren’t as big or as noticeable as the main one.
