My cat has been limping for two weeks now. After a few days, I took her to the vet, who didn't find any cuts or broken bones; she was quite happy to let the vet handle the paw. The vet gave her a cortisone and anti-inflammatory injection, thinking it was arthritis. However, two days later she is limping even more and I have noticed that the front paw she is limping on seems to be flattening out much more than the left one. It is as if she has no tendons left or something...
The vet isn't sure what it is over the phone and has suggested X-rays. I am happy to go ahead with them, even though they will cost a fair bit.
Has anyone else had this happen with their cats? I am not sure what to do—should I massage the paw or something else? Thanks for your help.
She doesn’t seem to be in pain; she is eating and playing, but she is moving less and sleeping more...

Hi, I’ve taken in a stray cat and I’ve seen that she’s been in a fight with a dog, but I can't afford to take her to the vet as I don't have much money. What should I do?
Personally, I’d suggest taking your cat to see the vet. Only they can tell you what might be wrong and give them the right treatment. They might even need to do an X-ray...
When I got home tonight, I noticed my cat was limping. He’s the sort of cat who stays out all night and spends the day in bed. When I picked him up, he meowed to tell me he was in pain, but when I touch or gently lift his leg, he doesn't react. I gave him some anti-inflammatories straight away to help with the pain. He’s been sleeping for about three hours now; he hasn't eaten and he’s stopped purring. I’m a bit lost—if anyone has any advice on what I should do, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I’m replying quite late to this, but @Dine13, could you let us know what happened with your cat and their limping in the end?
My kitten has had the same thing for 2 weeks now. I obviously took her to the vet, but they couldn't find anything the first time, so they put her on anti-inflammatories. However, it’s carried on. I asked for an X-ray, but that didn't show anything either. We eventually did some blood work and the result was suspected toxoplasmosis (elevated liver enzymes and a low positive for antibodies).
That’s her only symptom of the disease, so I’m really hoping that isn’t the actual diagnosis...
I have to wait 2 weeks to redo her blood tests; in the meantime, she’s on a natural liver support supplement called Hepa Supp to help her liver.
Hi everyone, my cat is limping really badly and is doing nothing but sleeping. He’s still eating normally but isn’t moving much at all. What should I do? Should I take him to the vet? Thanks for your help.
Hi, my cat has been limping for a week now. He went outside at my parents' house (he's normally an indoor cat) and he just stayed hidden the whole time he was out... Since I've been back at my flat, it hasn't improved, but it's not getting any worse either. He lets me handle him to see if he has a pain response, but nothing. I've checked his paw pads but I can't see anything... I'm taking him to the vet next week, but I don't know what to do in the meantime. Especially since I have another cat who sometimes pesters him when he's just trying to rest...
I know, I don't give advice without knowing what I'm talking about. The vet told me to do that, so I'm just passing the advice on. I know she needs to change vets, I'm aware of that, but when I say something, it's because I've done my research. I'd never want anything to happen to anyone else's cat!
This happened to me too and the vet helped me out, but if you want a tip, try massaging her. If you notice her licking her paw a lot, it means she's in pain, so just give her a massage and everything will be fine – but don't forget, you definitely mustn't massage her too hard. 😁
Don't go giving out advice without knowing what's actually wrong with her cat! For all you know, massaging her could end up doing more harm than good...
EDIT: Like Sevv said, I’d strongly recommend switching to a different vet!
Right, but what you’re saying isn't really relevant here. In this case, their cat has been limping for two weeks, and more importantly, it’s getting worse. It’s not just a bit of minor pain like the cat’s hurt itself slightly after a fall or bumping into something.
It could be a recurring issue, something untreatable, or something that will just get worse if it isn't dealt with. At the end of the day, we don’t know and apparently the vet doesn't either, which is why it would be a good idea to go and see another vet for a second opinion.
