Hi everyone,

My one-year-old cat has had a bald patch on his back right leg for a few months now. At first, from reading various forums, I thought it might just be an insect bite, but as the fur isn't growing back, I'm starting to wonder. The patch doesn't seem to bother him or cause him any pain, and the skin itself looks healthy.

Does anyone know what it could be? I've attached some photos to my post.

Thanks in advance,

My cat has a bald patch on his back right leg. What could it be?

    likely ringworm, isn't it?

    Hi,

Thank you, but wouldn't a fungal infection have progressed over time? The patch hasn't got any bigger or smaller since I first noticed it.

Plus, as he's an indoor cat, it would be quite surprising if he'd caught a fungus.

    What do you think?

    Best regards,

    Henri

    It’s probably a fungal infection, isn’t it?

Hi, Firstly, thank you for your response. Could this be seen as the equivalent of a mole in humans? Or is it something linked to a bacteria or virus? Kind regards, Henri

    Hi,

If you can't see any visible wounds or bites, this hair loss could point to an underlying skin condition. It would be best to see a specialist vet who can take a sample and advise you on what might be causing it.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Ophélie
