Kitty with a trembling front right paw

Hi everyone

I have two female cats, one aged seven and a half and the other is two.

They're both in perfect health, but I'm a little bit worried about Dana, the older one.

I've noticed that every now and then, when she's sitting down, her front right paw shakes.

It doesn't seem to stop her from walking or running, though.

Could it be down to her age?

I'll obviously mention it to the vet when I go for her annual check-up, but that's not until April.

I just wanted to see if any of your kitties have had a similar problem.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi everyone, my kitten is 6 months old. She’s been miaowing a lot and her right paw trembles when she’s resting. Could this be because she’s in season? She hasn’t been spayed yet.

Hi, did you find out anything about the tremors in your cat's front legs? Mine is doing the same thing. Thanks in advance. Best regards.

Hi, I was wondering – my cat's front legs are shaking, could it be down to the fact that he's put on some weight?

    Thanks for your reply

    Yes, she’s walking perfectly normally

Actually, I’ve noticed that her leg shakes when she wakes up

I’m not sure if it’s just down to the position she’s sleeping in

I have to take my other cat to the vet for her vaccinations soon, so I’ll ask them about it then

Thanks again for getting back to me

    Hi there,

The description of a tremor in a front leg could potentially point towards a neurological issue.

It would likely be a pinched nerve in that particular leg, rather than a spinal cord problem, as otherwise both legs would be shaking.

This kind of damage can occur following some kind of impact, whether mild or severe, located where a nerve passes through.

For the time being, I’d suggest keeping an eye on a few things:

    - Is your cat walking completely normally, or has their gait changed slightly since the shaking started? If it has changed, you should see your vet.

    - Are the tremors getting worse or do they seem constant from one day to the next? If they are becoming more frequent or intense, consult your vet.

    - Have you noticed anything unusual with any of the other legs? If so, again, you should see your vet.

If the tremors aren't spreading, the gait remains normal, and no other limbs are affected, it is likely a temporary neurological occurrence that should clear up within a few days at most.

There's no need to worry for now.

If the situation hasn’t resolved itself within 7 days, even in the absence of the symptoms mentioned above, please consult your vet.

    Have a good day,

    Joachim

Is her leg shaking? Have you got a quick video or photo to show us? When you say shaking, do you mean she’s limping? I’ve got a cat with a deformed leg so he limps, so I’d definitely suggest taking her to the vet. Anyway, we’d really like to see a video because I can't quite picture what's happening with her leg, to be honest.
