Brown spots on the skin

Hi everyone! 👋

A while ago, I noticed some brown spots on my cat's skin around his ears

Brown spots on the skin

I showed them to my husband, who said it was probably just his natural skin, but now I've noticed my other cat has exactly the same thing

so I'm starting to feel worried again.

Do you think their skin is naturally like that, or could it be some kind of illness? Thanks

Same here – my cat has brown spots on his ear and I don't know what they are.

Hi, my cat has spots on his ear as well, but they’re white. Should I be worried?

You definitely did the right thing going to the vet. At least now you’ve got some peace of mind, and if it had been down to a parasite or an illness, at least it could have been treated quickly. I'm so glad it's nothing serious. Have a lovely evening.

    Evening,

Did your vet suggest any possible causes for the hair loss? Fleas or allergies? My cat has the same thing going on, and her skin looks just the same...

Here are the marks on the lower part of my cat’s cheek, right where the cheek meets the neck.

Hi, I’ve just noticed some marks that look very similar to the ones in your photos, in the same areas as your cat. Did you go to see the vet? What did it end up being? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

We did see the vet and it turns out that’s just how their skin is! It was more of a scare than anything else for us, but don’t hesitate to get it checked out regardless, you never know.

Good evening, Ear mites are fairly easy to treat, but you need to act fast and make sure you finish the full course of treatment. They cause very dirty ears (brown, often smelly discharge), scratching, and sometimes a head tilt towards the most infected ear. You haven't mentioned what the inside of the ears looks like: if they’re clean, it could potentially be ringworm (and if so, good luck with that...). In any case, a trip to the vet is a must.

Hi Loumaury, Looking at your photos, the areas where the spots are also seem to be missing hair. Since these bald patches are on the cats' ears, it could be ringworm or mange, both of which can be passed on to humans. You should get an appointment booked with your vet as soon as possible so they can provide a diagnosis and prescribe treatment if needed. Kind regards, Marine
